FuseSocial Announces New Executive Director

(Fort McMurray, AB – June 15, 2022) – FuseSocial is pleased to welcome Shannon Rex into the role of Executive Director. Shannon will be transitioning from her existing role at FuseSocial as Special Projects Manager to Executive Director effective July 8, 2022, and under her leadership will continue to help strengthen social profits in Wood Buffalo.

“Shannon is very well versed with our organization, our strategic direction and already has established trust-based relationships within the sector and with our stakeholders. As a board, we are confident with Shannon at the helm, FuseSocial will experience a smooth transition ensuring the sector does not experience an interruption in programs or services,” says Tracy Aitchison, Board Chair of FuseSocial. “Under her leadership, FuseSocial will continue to support agencies and steward innovation and collaboration for a sustainable social profit sector. We believe she will lead her team with the same compassion and integrity the staff at FuseSocial has come to respect her for.”

Shannon has been with FuseSocial for two years and quickly demonstrated her leadership aptitude and passion for knowledge sharing and collaboration within the sector. Her portfolio includes the development and management of social impact and innovation projects such as Convergence YMM, Profiling the Non-Profit Sector, the Tomorrow Project and Social Profit Sector Summit, and most recently, The Heart of Wood Buffalo Awards. Shannon has 10 years experience working in the social sector and locally since 2014.

“I’m honoured to have been selected to lead the dynamic team at FuseSocial who’s passion and collective skills have accomplished great things in the face of many challenges,” says Shannon Rex. “I look forward to continuing to work alongside the many remarkable agencies in our community, as well as our Board of Directors, staff, funding partners and volunteers, as we continue to help strengthen the social profit sector in Wood Buffalo and prioritize continued collaboration, innovation and sustainability.”

Shannon succeeds Chantal Beaver who has led FuseSocial for the past 4 years. “On behalf of the board, we’d like to thank Chantal for her dedication to advancing the mission of FuseSocial and her passion for the social profit sector and the community. We wish her the best of luck as she takes the next steps in her career, “ says Aitchison.
