Director, Organization and Sector Development

Background and The Role:
FuseSocial is a leader in Fort McMurray and the Wood Buffalo Region social profit community and is committed to strengthening the capacity of all social profit organizations in the community through education, development, innovation, research, and collaboration.
As a member of the FuseSocial senior management team, the Director is responsible for overseeing the delivery and general success of FuseSocial’s Organization & Sector Development programs, management of program coordinators and facilitators and providing regular reports on progress and performance. In addition, the Director will take a lead role in ensuring FuseSocial research and collective impact activities are successfully developed and executed.
The successful candidate will have a broad knowledge of program management principles and program evaluation. They must have a strategic growth mindset as well as be able to lead and develop their team. The goal is to ensure every program will be delivered successfully and add the highest possible value to the Wood Buffalo Social Profit sector.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Your Relationships & Development
- Maintain professional networks and participate in professional and organizational growth opportunities.
- Build and cultivate partnerships and a community presence that enhances the impact and effectiveness of FuseSocial’s capacity building programing.
Department Leadership
- Manage assigned budgets for each of the capacity building program areas, including, sponsorship prospects and/or revenue gaps.
- Challenge, empower, and monitor the work performance of team members through facilitation of FuseSocial policy, procedures, and regular performance management.
- Ensure accountability of programing staff, including ongoing communication, regular meetings, effective reporting systems, and program plan checks.
- Work with individual staff to set goals and milestones for programs according to the strategic objectives of the organization and needs of the broader Wood Buffalo social profit community.
- Coach, support, and empower their team to deliver, develop, and grow programs and services that achieve the strategic objective of FuseSocial and meet the needs of all stakeholders.
- Ensure quality assurance of programming, including planning with evaluation in mind, regular and relevant outcome measurement, and regular community level needs assessments.
- Specifically responsible for working collaboratively with the ED to develop a program evaluation plan for the Capacity Building department of FuseSocial.
- Lead the implementation and ongoing adaptation of department evaluation(s).
Organizational Leadership
- Collaboratively with the Directors team, accomplish the organizations mission by ensuring adherence to and regular updates of annual operations plan.
- Collaboratively with the Directors team, set and implement policies, procedures, and systems.
- Collaboratively with the Directors team, work with, cultivate, and steward donors.
- Contribute to grant application and report writing when necessary/as requested by the Executive Director.
- Report thoroughly to the Executive Director Quarterly.
Requirements and skills:
- University degree in business, social science, or equivalent.
- Previous leadership experience managing staff is required.
- Exceptional project and program management skills.
- Community engagement, collective impact and networking experience considered an asset.
- Previous experience working for a social agency is desirable.
- Clear understanding of relevant economic, political, social, and demographic issues impacting the social profit sector and the community wellbeing.
Core competencies include motivating others, strong and proven leadership abilities, exceptionally organized work and though processes, maximizing others potential, proven critical thinking and decision-making abilities, delegation, strong verbal, and written communication skills.
Work Hours & Environment
Full-time temporary (75 hours bi-weekly) located in Fort McMurray, Alberta
High-flex work – must schedule/work a minimum of 30 hours per month in-person/on-site at the FuseSocial office with remote work (within RMWB) accommodated for the remaining hours.
FuseSocial offers a high-flex work environment however, while some of your hours can be worked from home, the successful candidate must reside in the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo and must have the ability to attend in-person office work and community-based events/programming as deemed necessary.
Salary
$72,000 – $90,000 based on experience. Please note your salary expectations in your cover-letter.

The Program Assistant provides operational and administrative assistance to the Advisor, Sector Development and other Program Staff.
The Program Assistant provides a variety of administrative, coordination and logistical services in support of the operations of the organization and sector development, and leadership FuseSocial pillars. Activities falling within the Programs Assistant portfolio will include, but are not limited to.

Advisor, Sector Development
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- participate in and take minutes of programming team meetings, subsequently disseminating an action log within a working day of the meetings close.
- Support Sector Development Advisor with coordination of training and development offerings. This includes booking speakers and facilitators, organizing the registration processes and/or delivery of program surveys.
- Prepare training kits or information packages for training and development sessions and send material to participants in a timely manner.
- Liaise with programming consultants and vendors as required to ensure smooth functioning of activities.
- Support programming team with the planning and delivery of community events as required.
Accountabilities:
At any one time the Program Assistant could be supporting several programs and initiatives that reflect a community-focused approach as well as FuseSocial’s core values, including inclusivity, collaboration, accountability, adaptability, and audaciousness.
The Program Assistant is to employ aptitudes in strategizing, as well as prioritization and task management.
Recognizing the limited hours associated with this position, the Program Assistant takes direction from and reports solely to the Advisor, Organization and Sector Development. Together, weekly priorities will be set and monitored.
Requirements and skill
- Post-Secondary education in social sciences or business completed or in progress.
- Comfortability working with diverse teams and communities is essential.
- Detail-oriented and efficient.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Strong time-management and organizational skills.
- Tech savvy, proficient in MS Office.
Work Hours & Environment
This is a part-time position (10-12 hours weekly).
FuseSocial offers a high-flex work environment. While many of your hours can be worked from home, the successful candidate must reside in the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo and must have the ability to attend in-person office work and community-based events/programming as deemed necessary.
Compensation
$28.00 per hour
