(Fort McMurray, AB – February 14, 2023) – FuseSocial is excited to announce that nominations are now open for the 2023 Heart of Wood Buffalo Excellence Awards. This year’s event will take place on Wednesday, June 7 from 6:00-9:00 PM at Shell Place.
The Heart of Wood Buffalo Excellence Awards (HWBEA) celebrates excellence in our region by honouring the achievements of leaders, philanthropists, community organizations, volunteers, advocates and all those that embody the spirit of community innovation, capacity building and leadership. Their passion and dedication to improving the quality of life in the RMWB demonstrates why they are considered the ‘Heart of Wood Buffalo’.

Recognized by their peers across the social profit and philanthropic sector for their leadership, passion, commitment and unparalleled generosity, award recipients truly demonstrate the giving nature of Wood Buffalo. We can’t wait to come together in celebration of what we know will be another year of outstanding nominees.”
In 2022, two new award categories were added to the original six. Together, the eight award categories that individuals and organizations can be nominated for include: Board Leadership Award, Executive Leadership Award, Community Impact Award, Philanthropy Award, Volunteer Recognition Award, Newcomer Engagement Award, Collaboration of the Year Award and Excellence in Social Innovation Award. To submit a nomination, visit heartofwoodbuffalo.ca and fill out the nomination form on the desired award page. The nomination period will end on Monday, March 13 at 6:00 PM. Tickets for the event will go on sale Monday, March 20 at fusesocial.ca.
Currently, there are still a few award sponsorship opportunities available. This is an excellent way for local businesses to engage with the social profit sector and immerse themselves with changemakers in the community.
