National Volunteer Week

Coming up April 18-24, 2027

Celebrating volunteers across Canada each year

Every April, Canada pauses to recognize the millions of people who give their time, talent, and energy to make their communities better. National Volunteer Week is a time to say thank you -- and to inspire more people to get involved.

In Wood Buffalo, our NorthStar Ford Wood Buffalo Volunteer Centre leads local NVW celebrations, hosts events, recognizes volunteers, and encourages residents to find meaningful ways to give back in their own community.

Looking Back: National Volunteer Week 2026

NVW 2026 carried the theme Ignite Volunteerism — a call to elevate civic participation, rebuild volunteer infrastructure, and celebrate the stories of volunteers across the country. It was also a milestone year, falling within the United Nations International Year of Volunteers.

In Wood Buffalo, we marked the week with a Volunteer Appreciation Brunch, Volunteer Team Lead Training, and community events that brought together volunteers, organizations, and supporters from across the region.

Thank you to our 2026 sponsors and partners!
