Sector Advancement

The sector is stronger when we work together.

FuseSocial doesn't just support individual organizations — we work to advance the social profit sector as a whole. Through connection, research, advocacy, and collective action, we help make Wood Buffalo a place where the sector can do its best work.

What does sector advancement look like?

It looks like organizations that used to operate in silos finding out they've been working toward the same goal all along.

It looks like frontline staff and managers having a space to share what's actually hard right now.

It looks like decision-makers having real data to back up their ask for funding.

This is the work that doesn't always show up in a program brochure — but it's some of the most important work we do.

Collaborative Roundtables

The social profit sector can be isolating. Leaders and staff are often heads-down in their own organizations, navigating challenges without knowing that others around them are facing the exact same thing.

Our roundtables change that. They create regular, low-barrier spaces for people across the sector to connect, share, and problem-solve together.

All roundtables are free to attend - always. Check our events calendar for upcoming dates.

The Tomorrow Project

The social profit sector in Wood Buffalo is doing critical work — but for a long time, that work happened in silos, without a shared picture of where the sector was, what it needed, or where it was headed.

The Tomorrow Project is our response to that gap.

Launched following a 2020 sector research study, the Tomorrow Project brings together leaders, frontline staff, funders, and residents to collectively reimagine and strengthen social services in the region. FuseSocial serves as the backbone organization — facilitating collaboration, measuring outcomes, and ensuring the work stays on track.

With over 50 local agencies involved to date and three completed subsector strategic plans (Child and Youth, Mental Health, and Seniors), the Tomorrow Project is building the kind of coordinated, community-led change that no single organization can create alone.

Advocacy and Sector Representation

The organizations doing the most important work in our community shouldn't have to fight for a seat at the table. FuseSocial advocates on behalf of the Wood Buffalo social profit sector with municipal council and other decision-makers, ensuring the sector's priorities, challenges, and contributions are part of the conversation.

We also serve as a Network Steward for the Alberta Nonprofit Network (ABNN) — bringing insight and perspectives of Wood Buffalo organizations to provincial-level conversations, and a broader network of nonprofit support across Alberta.
