FuseSocial Takes Next Step in Strengthening the Social Profit Sector with New Downtown Location

Fort McMurray, AB – May 8, 2026 — FuseSocial is pleased to announce its upcoming move to a new office space at 10010 Franklin Avenue, across from Kiyām Community Park in the heart of downtown Fort McMurray. The relocation, planned for Summer 2026, represents an important step forward in FuseSocial’s mission to strengthen the nonprofit sector and better support community volunteers in Wood Buffalo.

The downtown location will include a dedicated area for the NorthStar Ford Wood Buffalo Volunteer Centre, creating a welcoming hub where community members can explore and connect with thousands of volunteer opportunities across the region. With its central location—close to community events, organizations, and local amenities—the Volunteer Centre will be more visible and accessible than ever before.

“This move marks an important step forward for FuseSocial and our commitment to strengthening the Wood Buffalo social profit sector,” said Shannon Rex, Executive Director of FuseSocial. “Over the past three years, we’ve significantly strengthened our team and refined our programs to better support organizations across the region. Financial sustainability has also been a key priority, ensuring we can continue to respond to the evolving needs of the sector for years to come.”

Thanks to the incredible generosity of an anonymous donor, FuseSocial has secured a permanent home through ownership of the building—strengthening the organization’s long-term sustainability while also enabling FuseSocial to offer a small number of affordable downtown rental office spaces for social profit organizations in the community.

The building already includes important accessibility features, such as a chair lift and ramp, and its layout helps reduce barriers to participation. With a ground-floor training space and the relocation of the Volunteer Centre to the main level, more community members will be able to easily access programs, support, and opportunities in a welcoming and inclusive environment.

“This milestone reflects the strength of FuseSocial’s leadership and our focus on deepening the impact of the organization over the past several years,” said Thomas Hopkins, Board Chair of FuseSocial. “As a Board, we’re proud to support a direction that not only strengthens long-term sustainability but also the organization’s ability to serve and connect with the social profit sector and our volunteer community.”

FuseSocial extends its sincere appreciation to its core funders—Suncor, the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo, the Government of Alberta, and NorthStar Ford. Their ongoing support and generous investments have enabled FuseSocial to grow alongside the needs of the sector, creating the foundation for this move into a larger, more accessible space designed to better serve nonprofits, volunteers, and the broader community.
